MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE
TRUCKEE DONNER RAILROAD SOCIETY
DATE 7/10/04
1. President Bob Bell calls the Annual Meeting of the
Truckee Donner Railroad Society to order at 4:15 PM
at 14960 Swiss Lane, Truckee, California.
2. Directors: Bob Bell, President; Steve Disbrow, VP;
Nelson Van Gundy, Historian; Ed Larson, Jerry Keyes,
Bob Herhusky, and Eric Ring, Treasurer. Also in
attendance were members Dan Pearson, Rick McConn, Dean
Dvoracek,
3. Motion made by Director Disbrow and seconded by
Director Keyes to approve the minutes of the 2003 annual
meeting as published. All Directors approved the motion.
3. Motion made by Director VanGundy and seconded by
Director Larson to approve the slate of officers for
the year 2004 / 2005 to be the same as previous year. All
Members approved the motion present.
4. Treasurer's report was presented by Director and
Treasurer Eric Ring. The Society has $4,895.95 in the
savings
account and $1,156.58 in the checking account at Bank of
the West. All expenditures for the year were presented
and a motion to approve these expenditures was presented
by President Bell and Seconded by Director VanGundy.
The motion as approved by all Directors and Members in
attendance.
5. Discussion regarding the Society's display cabinet
located at the Chamber of Commerce. McConn, VanGundy, and
Larson agreed to collect and display information,
photographs, and possible model of Snow Sheds
representative of those
used in the Donner Summit area with the goal to complete
in time for the Truckee Railroad Days.
6. Membership report, The Society has a total of 30
lifetime charter members and 10 renewing or new Regular
members.
7. Director VanGundy reported on status and potential
of Teichert museum of Transportation and railroad
history,
and the potential museum at the new Railyard development
by Rick Holliday. The Teichert Sierra Transportation
Museum is not progressing. The Railyard developer has
expressed interest in a museum. Director VanGundy agreed
to contact Mr. Holliday to establish the contents of a
formal letter of interest from the Society to Mr.
Holliday.
8. Director Larson reported that no updates have been
performed on the web page. The completion of an update
of the web page by adding a brief history of the Society
and Director Keyes contact with other regional Railroad
Museums and organizations to accomplish a link with their
web pages will be completed before the end of the
calendar year.
9. Discussion regarding potential involvement that the
Society may want to have regarding the Truckee River
Watershed
Committee's plans to remove historical railroad grades in
the Merrill meadows are and arrangements to survey the
area.
Director VanGundy agreed to lead a tour, or arrange a
tour to this area this summer or fall.
10. Discussion regarding the logo patches and the
selling of the patches. President Bell reported that the
Chamber of Commerce
purchased 5 patches and will see how the sales go before
ordering more. Director Keyes will contact member John
Sorrentino
to sell the patches in his retail store in downtown.
11. Director VanGundy will again consider leading
another Trestle Tour this year. After review of his
schedule he will advise
if an appropriate date can be established. Most attendees
agreed that the tours in the past has been exceptional
fun and
expressed their gratitude to Director VanGundy for this
exciting adventure.
12. Discussion regarding additional presentations for
the spring were presented. Director VanGundy will contact
a speaker
he and Director Disbrow attended recently to have a
presentation on the Swayne Lumber Company and Director
Keyes
indicated he would contact the Narrow Gauge RR Museum in
Nevada City for a special tour of this facility.
13. There being no more new business from the floor
the President made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Directors Larson and VanGundy seconded the motion and the
meeting was adjourned at 5:15 by approval of all
members and Directors in attendance.
