Trestle Tour PicturesBelow:Plaque marking the location of Hobart Mills. The site located about 6 miles north of Truckee was home to a large lumber mill. Standard gauge of the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Company tied the mills to the main line in Truckee. Narrow gauge lines snaked into the mountains to the north to bring back the valuable logs.
Below: A trestle still standing that crossed a watershed near the Little Truckee River.
Below: Another view.
Below: The remains of bridge pilings in the Little Truckee River can be seen in the water just left of center.
